Hair styling in India to become child’s play

Industry sources reveal that Marico could most likely launch this product under the Sparsh brand umbrella, which nestles the companys range of kids personal products like baby oil and bathing bar. The current size of Indias cosmetic and toiletries market is about $950 million.

Within this, the size of the hair care market in India is about $200 million, though the hair gel market is very nascent and niche and dominated by international players.

Should this product actually launch, though, Marico would be the harbinger of hair fashion for the pre-teen, a segment not really addressed by hair-styling brands. It will be interesting to see if Garniers Fructis hair-styling range extends to this age zone. Recently, Garnier launched a range of Fructis hair-styling range, including Hard Glue gel for young men and women.

Hair-Raising Event at ESU

East Stroudsburg - East Stroudsburg University sororities raised nearly $300 and donated 135 inches of hair to benefit the Locks of Love program during a recent hair-cutting event titled "Help Make A Child Smile."

Hairstylists from Salon Evol of Stroudsburg volunteered their time to cut hair that will be used to create custom-made hairpieces for young cancer victims, burn victims and children with alopecia – a condition that causes premature balding, according to Suzanne Di Tore, event organizer and graduate assistant of Greek Affairs at ESU.

The event took place on Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the University Center, where Salon Evol stylists set up two salon chairs to give free hair cuts to those donating 10 inches or more. Shorter haircuts were given for a cash donation to Locks of Love.

Viewpoint: They were terrorists

How often does a girl like me get the opportunity to mingle with ex-terrorists? Not often. This is precisely why I was so excited to hear the three ex-terrorists who came to speak at Rackham Auditorium on Tuesday.

I came at least a half hour early to the presentation, and I was only half surprised to see a group of protesters standing outside. Their signs had phrases like "Zionism is Racism." On my way in, I received a handout discrediting the speakers as "Israeli propagandists" and another yellow handout advertising a walkout. I was sure the protesters had some merit in whatever they were trying to do, but at this point, I was just eager to get in.

The function began with an introduction by Ryan Fantuzzi, the vice president of the University's chapter of the Young Americans for Freedom.
